Cats are said by many to be hypoallergenic cats.  

We love the sweet majestic look of the Siberian cat and their fantastic personality traits, but we have been most delighted with the hypoallergenic nature of the breed. We have found from personal experience that cat allergic family members living in and out of our house are able to tolerate our Siberians. Many Siberian breeders successfully place the majority of their kittens into households with cat allergies.

I find this intriguing as there is not yet any scientific evidence that Siberians are actually hypoallergenic. There has been great debate about why allergy sufferers seem to tolerate Siberian cat. The most convincing argument is that Siberian Cats produce less of the protein FEL D1, present in cat dander and urine. Not everyone with a cat allergy can tolerate Siberians cats however, so if this is your reason for wanting a kitten, please let us know and we will arrange a sitting with our cats and kittens - we have no other cats, only our Siberians and Neva Mascuarade in the house. It would be very upsetting for you as an owner and very upsetting for the kitten to have to return back to us here. It is also much more difficult to find a new home for an older kitten, so you must think very carefully before you reserve one of our kittens. Their welfare as a lifelong cherished pet is paramount to us.P>
